Senior Project Reflection

(1) Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your Block Presentation and/or your senior project? Why? I am most proud of how I decorated the classroom for my presentation. I heard Juniors talking about the centerpieces and decorations afterwards and I'm glad they they were appreciated. I am also proud of the fact that I've successfully completed my project, even though I had a setback 5 months into the school year.

(2) Questions to Consider

a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Block Presentation (self-assessment)?

AP

b.     What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project (self-assessment)?

AP

(3) What worked for you in your senior project? I greatly appreciate the help I received from not only my fellow classmates, but also Mrs. Pittman. Even though I struggled a lot, my classmates were always very supportive of my situation and Mrs. Pittman was always ready to assist me.

(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would have you done differently to improve your senior project if you could go back in time? I would have picked a better topic since the beginning of the year, so then I could have used the nine months more wisely.

(5) Finding Value

How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors?   Be specific and use examples. I have gained really good hands on experience in retail and customer service from both my mentorship and my Independent Component #2. I know that I can refer to my mentors as references when I apply for future jobs. Also, passing senior project has shown me that from here on, I can do anything. To me, I have completed the impossible, so now anything in comparison is possible.

Advisory Meeting #2

EQ:
What is the best way for a fashion corporation to help artisan women in India become micro-entrepreneurs?

Answer #2:
The best way for a fashion corporation to help artisan women in India become micro-entrepreneurs is for the fashion corporation to offer micro-finance to the women so that they are able to begin their entrepreneurship.
  1. These potential entrepreneurs don’t have money to finance their ideas, their products. Once they have paid for the raw materials, and made the product, they then need to wait for a return in profit until their product is sold. Resource: Interview 3
  2. It is possible for small businesses to become globalized. In order to do so, the entrepreneurs need access to correct tools, such as internet access and computers, to begin online services. Resource: Interview 3
  3. Giving women the opportunity to finance their own businesses as entrepreneurs encourages women empowerment. Tens of millions of women around the world have greater economic independence and self-worth because of micro-finance projects. Roughly 95% of micro-loans go to women.Resource: "Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Alleviating Poverty & Promoting Peace Through Enterprise Development." Strong, Michael. Flow Idealism. 2007. PDF.
Concluding Sentence:
Providing artisan women in India with micro-finance is the best way to help them become micro-entrepreneurs, giving them the foundation necessary to begin a business.

Blog 13: Lesson 2 Reflection

Content:

1. Positive Statement

I am most proud of how much I was able to put together with my last minute topic change.

2. Questions to Consider
       a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 2 Presentation (self-assessment)? AP

       b.     My professionalism was definitely not my strength in this presentation. I didn't feel like I engaged with the audience or made enough eye contact with the audience.

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 2? My activity. As one of the last presentations, the audience was excited to use the ipads in order to access the sites needed in my activity.

4.  (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 2? I would have taken more time to memorize and be more comfortable with my information, so that I would have been able to present more confidently.

5. Finding Value
What do you think your answer #2 is going to be? I am not really sure what my answer #2 will be, mostly because I just found my answer #1 along with my EQ last week. I believe it may have to do with encouraging women to form small groups with other local women that assist each other in their finances. Another option is providing more educational opportunities.
